The Republic of Thieves

The Republic of Thieves - Scott Lynch (I received this book for free through Goodreads First Reads. Do not use near open flame. Legal tender for all debts public and private.)
The Magic Circle - Jenny Davidson 2.5 stars
The Adventures of Tintin in the Congo - Hergé, Michael Turner, Leslie Lonsdale Cooper I loathed this book. Tintin is a Great White Hunter who kills an elephant for its tusks, shoots a monkey for its pelt, and is worshipped as a god by several native villages.
Deception - Denise Mina This was entertaining but some of the details don't add up. Lachlan is a doctor who doesn't work because he dislikes meeting patients. How and why did he get through medical school?

Asterix and the Cauldron

Asterix and the Cauldron - René Goscinny, Albert Uderzo Predictable
Vanilla and Other Stories - Candas Jane Dorsey Liked:WishesOnce upon a time Sally go 'round the roses Time is the school in which we learn, time is the fire in which we burn Going up to Heaven Vanilla What we woreOK:Couple of lines on a page, no big deal, right? Artifacts Mapping Hammond organ to the stars Touring with Stef The dancing master Blood from a stone Cows
The Evil in Pemberley House - Philip José Farmer, Win Scott Eckert Farmer occasionally writes a good book but this isn't one of them.
The Languages of Pao - Jack Vance 2.5 stars. This is a typical prince returns to overthrow the usurper story with a sprinkling of pseudo-linguistics.
Like Salt for a Head Wound: A Parking Lot Is Full Collection - Pat Spacek, Jack McLaren This book consists of 143 The Parking Lot is Full comics.
Broken Wings - L.J. Baker 2.5 stars
The Recently Deflowered Girl: The Right Thing to Say on Every Dubious Occasion - Edward Gorey, Mel Juffe, Hyacinthe Phypps If this excerpt amuses you then you will like The Recently Deflowered Girl.Deflowered by Marimba PlayerAfter being deflowered, you discover that your parents refuse to give consent to marriage with mustachioed marimba player. You are prevented from arranging another rendezvous, but you see him by chance at Junior League charity tea dance. He is playing in rhumba band. At intermission, you meet. You say, "I'm terribly sorry, Harold, but my parents won't let me marry you."He says, "That's all right, baby. I've been happily married for years."You say: "How did your wife get her parents' consent?"Your main difficulty apparently is in getting the consent of your parents. It is wise to learn how other girls get theirs. MISS H. P.
Willie Masters’ Lonesome Wife - William H. Gass It was the 60s - drugs were cheap and plentiful.
The Wrong End Of Time - John Brunner 2.5 stars
Deathbird Stories (A Collier Nucleus Fantasy Classic) - Harlan Ellison I have read more stories of Harlan behaving badly than any of his fiction.
Machine Sex...and Other Stories - Candas Jane Dorsey Liked:Death and Morning (1988)Johnny Appleseed and the New World (1985)The Prairie Warriors (1988) War and Rumours of War (1988) - a sequel to The Prairie Warriors(Learning about) Machine Sex (1988) - this is like William Gibson's Sprawl series but betterBlack Dog (1988)By Their Taste Shall Ye Know Them (1988)Willows (1986)OK:Sleeping in a Box (1988)"You'll Remember Mercury" (1988)Time Is the School in Which We Learn, Time Is the Fire in Which We Burn (1988)Disliked:Columbus Hits the Shoreline Rag (1977)the white city (1985) - this story was written entirely in lowercase letters. I consider mixed case one of the hallmarks of civilization.
